Lenses

New technology continues to improve the materials and designs that go into lenses. Rx Optical has kept pace with this high-tech evolution. We offer a full selection of lens materials, including polycarbonate and high index, along with a wide variety of lens types, such as multifocals, intermediates, progressives and Transitions.

All prescription lenses are impact-resistant in compliance with Food and Drug Administration regulations. However, these lenses are NOT shatterproof or unbreakable. They can break into sharp pieces that can cause serious injury to the eye or blindness. Even if the lenses do not break, the force of impact may cause the lenses or spectacle frame to contact the eye or surrounding area, causing injury.

Of all lens materials available, polycarbonate is the most impact-resistant. For all active patients (particularly children) and those requiring additional protection for sports, occupational, or even everyday use, polycarbonate lenses are recommended.

The continued impact resistance of your lenses depends on how well you protect them from physical shock and abuse. For your own protection, scratched or pitted lenses should be replaced immediately. Scratches and pits weaken lenses, making them more susceptible to breakage under stress.

Rx Optical cares about your eyes.  Please let us take care of all your vision needs and provide proper protection for you and your family.
